Old world bathroom

Throw back Thursday.
This week I decided to show an old world Bathroom.
I painted this a few years ago, for a wonderful customer. The walls were fauxed in a dreamy ecru and cream, with gold and champagne accents. The adornments were added to the cabinet then painted in  champagne metal paint then aged.
Lots of work but in the end one gorgeous bathroom.

Doll display

Here's an idea!
This is an archived piece I did years ago for a customer. She wanted to display some of her grandmothers dolls and doll furniture. So we painted the inside of a china closet to resemble a doll house. I just loved working on this piece.

Have a wonderful day! Kate

Flower Fairies

Flower Fairies Mural from my years past, done in the Grandparents Child's Play Room.

Lucky Grand kids don't you think!
These  fairies were spotted in picked places around the room. The size of the images are on average 3 to 7 feet tall. I have had some wonderful opportunities in my career. Thank you to all the wonderful customers who gave me the opportunity.

The Begining

One of my favorite pieces-- A good customer of mine was going to throw this beautiful chair away, she offered it to me, of course I could not pass it up, so I reupholstered it, Painted it, but it needed a little more, so I envisioned a castle theme on the back, and I loved it! (Thank you, Laurie).

THE BEGINNING--17 years and running.
I was a housewife, & mother, plus I ran the office for my ex-husband's electrical business for 18 years.
In those 18 years I learned to do many things, I taught myself to paint & draw, fixed up many apartments, and a house. Then came a divorce!
What do I do?
So I threw open my detached garage door and started painting furniture. My garage is very close to a school and the curiosity of me painting day in day out, people had to stop to see what I was up too. Commissions followed, followed by furthering my painting to Murals and small items. Let me tell you sitting on a concrete floor for 10 to 12 hours a day, is not good! In about 2 years, I then converted the garage to a studio.
I must say, it was wonderful having people stop by and chat.

Happy Painting,
Kate

Mural Powder Room

Mural in a powder room

Powder Room

The hand  painted ceiling and border, to match the curtains. I even painted the tassels.

The Real Curtain In the Room connected to the bathroom.

As I was saying in the previous post. Murals followed. Many people wanted there ceilings painted, let me think was it Michelangelo, yes! I felt for Michel!  Painted ceilings were very difficult, hours with your neck bent, he had the right idea with the scaffolding in the Sistine Chapel.

Painted furniture was very popular. I'm not sure if I still have a copy from the local paper called the Tribune Review. If I do I will post it on the side panel when I find it. Following the article Galleries wanted my work. I thought it was wonderful, WOW a gallery wants my work GREAT. I did end up trying, But 60% commission, raised the prices so high I thought it was ridiculous so that only lasted about a year.

Happy Day,
Kate
